Mathieu Cherkit (Paris, 1982) lives and works in Vallery, 1.5 hours from Paris. The subject of his paintings is his home, an old townhouse and school, where the artist lives with his wife and son. The result is an intimate look in his environment, transcending his everyday life onto the canvas. Using multiple layers of thick oil paint he creates his paintings of the various rooms in his house filled with antiques, staircases and the lush green garden surrounding the house. Using various perspectives, incorporating a mix of abstract elements and choosing for diptychs, he invites us into his world.
